About Starnash
The farmhouse is our family home. The architecture allows it to neatly divide into 2 to make an ideal location for guests to stay in self-contained accommodation. Our family live on the west side of the house and a locked door divides the premises so that our guests have complete privacy on the east side of the house.
We are both keen cooks and advocates of a simple, eco-friendly way of life. We like to keep our little flock of hens and grow and forage for some of our food. We love to watch the wildlife that thrives around the flower meadow and in the rewilding areas of the homestead. In 2015 we installed ground source heating and solar power which replaced the old oil fuelled system. We also have an EV charging point which our guests can use on request.
Starnash Farmhouse started life as a humble shepherd's dwelling in the 16th century and has evolved from that time until the present day. In 2015 the farmhouse was extended in a style that respected the Georgian farmhouse vernacular of the 1630s frontage. The new east wing incorporated elements of the original building into the extension to give an overall continuity to the architecture of the building.
